Field Types

Text - Text is used to represent a unique piece of information in a single line like names, location or quick descriptions.

Textarea - Textarea is the best choice for comment, description or notes fields that might have long entries.

Number - Number is a field that allows you to perform operations such as sums, averages, ascending or descending sorting and more. When setting up this type you can choose between the formats integer, decimal, and currency.

Date - This option lets you insert a field item into the calendar. In order for objects to apear in the calendar you have to set up a date field for them.

You can choose a date format and whether or not you would like to include time.

Dropdown/List - Allows you to choose a single value in a predefined list of values. By default, you cannot specify values that are not present in the predefined list. If your use case requires the specification of new values, the option “Allow inline creation of values” must be checked. With this option selected, all new values will be automatically added to the predefined list and suggested to users upon data entry.

Checkbox - You can add a checkbox which can be very useful for keeping track of tasks and their status. Optionally, you can set the boxes to be checked by default.

Labels - It is a field type which allows users to define a label to tag their data. You can also add a value list which different label options and choose label colors. It is also possible to set up a default label value.

File - Allows you to attach files to objects. This is useful if your use case requires that a particular type of file (e.g. evidence, proof of work) it’s attached to objects in a consistent way.

Formula - This field can process arithmetic operations between data from two different fields. For example, we can create a field called ‘amount’ and another called ‘quantity’ and then create a third field that multiplies values from the two columns.

The relationships you can use to compose your formula: SUM - AVERAGE - MIN - MAX - DATEDIF - TODAY - IF - AND - OR; The data type you can insert: Text - Integer - Decimal - Currency - Date.

Link - This field option allows you to insert a link associated to your Object.

Reference to Workspace - This option allows you to Reference another Workspace that might be related to your Object.

Rollup - This field allows to perform aggregation of data from fields linked to other workspaces which can be incredibly useful in many work scenarios.

System - This field type automatically generates values for every Object. System fields can show you who created each Object, who last modified each Object, the time each Object was created, the last time each row was modified and the parent workspace of the Object.

System Column Types - The following table lists the different system column types and what they can be used for.

Creation date

Creation date of the Object.

Modified By

The collaborator who last made a data change to the Object.

Created By

The name of the collaborator who created the row.


A user from the Organization that can be chosen from the list of all Users - Appear after typing a letter.


The Object Workspace.


The Object parent workspace if it applies.

Auto-generated identifier

The unique id of the Object

Auto-generated Number

Automatically generates an incremented number for every Object created. It’s useful if you want to specify a unique identifier for the Object (e.g. case id, invoice number, work order number) without having to manually specify it. It contains a suffix and a prefix where you can add additional personalizations like your company’s initials, current year, month or day. We can also add the Starting number which indicates its initial value. There is an option to Reset the value every year returning the counter to 0.
